Long Island is unusual in that the living and entertaining spaces are on the first floor - rather than the more traditional ground floor. The reason for this - to maximise the uninterrupted sea views of Bracklesham Bay and the Isle of Wight beyond.
When rebuilding the property in 2013, we had a vision of creating a little piece of contemporary New England beach living in Sussex - the first floor living and entertaining space eptomises that. The area, apart from the snug, and including the adjoining kitchen are all open plan - not only to maximise the feeling of space and openness (and of course the sea views) but to make the space as versatile as possible.
A place to entertain family and friends
The resultant open space with magnificent sea views is an ideal space to not only relax and enjoy all that the British seaside has to offer, but to also entertain family and friends in contemporary style and comfort - the dining, living and kitchen areas can all be used as one large entertaining space.
Uninterrupted sea views
The openness of this area is complemented by French doors to the full width sea facing balcony - allowing the merging of the beach side location with the contemporary style of the property - a truly unique feature which gives Long Island a special character that will last long in the memory.
Contemporary design, New England style
Like the rest of Long Island, the living and entertaining areas are designed, decorated and furnished to the highest standard with all modern conveniences. The style - contemporary New England - reflective of the beach houses in Main and the Hamptons.
Not only does this style of decoration suits the fantastic beachside location of Long Island - but it makes for a relaxed and chilled environment to relax, unwind and entertain.
The only enclosed space on the first floor is the snug. A small enclosed living / TV room for when you want peace and quiet from your family and friends or for the little ones.
